Legal and ethical concerns are equally important in the delivery of services from professionals in the field of abnormal psychology, inasmuch as there are myriad issues pertaining to competency and confidentiality that are too easily breached within the stringent boundaries of therapy. While both licensed and unlicensed practitioners must abide by the industry's legal and ethical guidelines, a greater onus falls upon the unlicensed practitioner whose patient interaction must be supervised by a licensed practitioner.
